i have a 97 Ranger, and i dont know if i have an air box, i just got this truck and am trying to learn as much as i can.

If you have an engine, you have an airbox. Open your hood and look.

It may have already been asked somewhere in here, but without the silencer what kind of sound does it output compared to an exspensive air intake?

It makes a sounds like an ATM machine giving you cash that you didn't otherwise spend on a pointless intake system.

I spoke with someone today who's done a few mods on his ranger before. He's done this mod and said that the only danger is bugs cawling into the airbox if you take out the snorkel. Anyone ever had any experience with this?

I think its highly unlikely, but id like to hear some opinions.
-His ranger was a 98

well I doubted this to begin with, I was going to perform the quick mod when I get my truck back from the body shop anyways. I'm just curious if anyone has had this happen to them.

well i would worry about things getting in either way, when i bought my truck it was stock and i found some acorns and a chewed inner airbox from a mouse lol

I tried doing this mod but my dam airbox wouldn't budge. I pulled very forcefully and no results.. I was kind or afraid of breaking the plastic so I gave up. Any ideas?
