Re: How To: Air Silencer Removal (Cold Air Intake)
the crap that turned you filter black would have been there anyway. just not contained to the easiest route of airflow. its still pulling air from outside.

Re: How To: Air Silencer Removal (Cold Air Intake)
well i put mine back on this morning boy what a huge f-ing difference!!! my truck could never do 40 in forth gear with out it lugging well guess what i can do it now with no lugging! and at take off it was hard to get a perfect grab with out it being jumpy and its not the clutch i have a brand new one with a new slave a new master and all the other clutch things. And a newer drive shaft with u-joints it wasn't the tranny. I researched it last night on different forums and i hear you loose low end torque and other possibilities. But some of those guys were telling the truth. And to think that i've had this mod on my truck over a year and now i can say i'm happy with the way it drives. I always thought is was a tranny problem but now i'm happy to say its not. And being able to drive in 4th at 40mph is going to save me so much mpg. Usually i'm at 2,600rpms in third now i'm at 1,600 rpms in 4th with no more lugging. Weird yes but its the truth. Not dogging this mod but it didn't help my truck one bit. And it took me forever to realize it. May be different on your guy's truck. And call me crazy if some of you will but i know my truck inside and out and i know when there is a problem and now i can finally say i'm happy with this truck once again. Its just like when i first bought it

I did it, and reversed it the same day.
It didn't change the sound of my engine (already pretty loud), so i shed a tear and put it back.

Are you serious? Really? You just asked "what does this do" in a thread that describes in detail, everything about it. Here's an idea, instead of being lazy, why don't you read the thread you just posted in, and the question will be answered within 1-2 mintues, if that.

Re: How To: Air Silencer Removal (Cold Air Intake)
Is there a way that you can simply put it back stock if you want to?

Yes it is reversible. Just make sure you keep the parts handy that you remove.

Re: How To: Air Silencer Removal (Cold Air Intake)
Do you put the MRC back in also? Or does it matter?

Re: How To: Air Silencer Removal (Cold Air Intake)
UMM. My engine looks like this. Do I pull that black box in the bottom left corner to take that stuff off?
