Your not going to hear it unless you step on the gas...
and im pretty sure im going to un-do the mod, love the sound but I definitely feel a power loss at lower RPM's. Like I said in another thread it feels like I have turbo lag now when I go peddle down, and in my normal highway route it wants to downshift more often.

Re: How To: Air Silencer Removal (Cold Air Intake)
I just finished this and took it for a ride. I defniatly think that I am gettin more air with it. My ac does not seem like its choking so much either.
One thing: When I took off my air filter, it was all chewed up and I had a nice little nest growing in there. I have a lot of small critters near the lake and I am assuming one got in there. The thing I did differently was this:
I know it will keep out the animals but will it hurt my air flow?

You don't have air flowing in so nothing really changes. Good mod to keep critters out though and without restricting more access to open air.

Yes, that screen is severely inhibiting your air flow. Which even further proves my point that any perceived gain from an air intake mode is 110% all in your head, not real.

Re: How To: Air Silencer Removal (Cold Air Intake)
I did this the other day and did not notice any difference. I was doing something else that required me to take the top of the air box off so I did 2 for one. I won't put it back in until I change the air filter but still, I did not notice any difference.

Re: How To: Air Silencer Removal (Cold Air Intake)
Just finished doing this mod, hoping to see if any change at all will be noticed.

Well I was chirping tires, did the mod and now I can't... sounds cool as hell though if that's what you are going for. Yeah, be careful putting the box back in, lost a ton of coolant by knocking the hose off the reservoir

I feel this lag too. Of course maybe it's ALL in my head and the mod gave me 18+ hp

Undid the mod today and couldn't be happier. No more lag when on the throttle, tackles hills much better, etc.

I'm Surprised That more air is causing lag?

I don't know the science behind it, I just know there is a definite lag and power/torque loss with the mod. My truck struggled up hills and downshifted way more with the silencer removal, and does just fine now without. Plus when I go foot to the floor there is no long pause before the revs start climbing now.
