Default Foglamp Mod 1995, 1996, 1997

These three Ranger years require a minor wiring change to make this happen. Here's how I would do it. Proceed at your own risk:
  • Cut the dark green w/light green stripe a few inches from where it comes out of the underhood Distribution Box
  • Insulate the cut end of the DG/LG wire that is going toward the firewall.
  • Extend (if necessary) the cut end of the DG/LG wire coming from the Distribution Box and tee it into the solid brown wire that feeds the front parking lamps.
The brown wire is in the large wire bundle that runs close to the Distribution Box. So, with a little planning, the mod could be done in a very tidy manner. The underhood area is a harsh environment and any electrical connections need to be solid, waterproof and well-insulated.

When finished, the foglamps should be operational whenever the high beams, low beams or parking lights are on provided that the foglamp switch is also turned on.

Note: This mod may be illegal in some states, especially if you also have driving lights that come on with the high beams. Many states limit you to 4 forward-facing lights on at the same time.

Canadians and others with Daytime Running Lights: This mod may possibly have undesired side effects on the operation of the DRLs.

if you live is Missouri i would highly recommend not doing this!! i have gotten 2 ticket and pulled over at least a dozen times for running fogs with highbeams. in Missouri it is a combined wattage of all lights. but this could be very helpful if you are off roading, if this being the cause i would recommend putting in a 3way switch and have one setting for OE wiring and one for constant on.

Never had a problem with mine. Missouri law is that you can not have more then 4 driving lights.

There would be no need to have footlights and high beams on except back roads or off roading.

Will the fogs light up when I set the alarm and the lights flash?

That's the best I can do for you without having a 95~97 truck here to photograph. Others have been able to follow these instructions with no problem whatsoever.
