Default How To: 3" Doetsch Spindle Install

This thread is intended to show you how to install spindle lift on your truck safe and proper way. I, Ford Ranger Forum, and Megan Fox are not reliable for any injury from installing them.

Tools Needed:
-New 3" lift doetsch spindles
-Breaker Bar
-8mm, 14mm, 15mm, 24mm Sockets
-3/4" Socket for Lug nuts
-8mm Hex Key
-Flat Blade Screw Driver, Small and Large
-Hammer
-Pliars
-Grease
-Lube(To free up frozen parts such as PB Blaster)
-Ball Joint Seperator
-New Lower Ball Joint(Not nessasary but very good idea to do while its apart)
-Jacks and Jack Stands
-Trimmer

Step One: Jack up the vehicle and make sure the jack stands are in a safe place to the vehicle is stable.

Step Two: Remove the Wheels

Step Three: Remove the brake caliper held on by 14mm bolts. Two per wheel, and pull it off and hang it out of the way with minimal stress on the brake line

Step Four: Remove the Dust Cap with small screw driver moving up the the larger one. Then with Pliars remove the cotter pin followed by the spindle nut and bearing.

Step Five: Remove the brake rotor by unbolting the 2 15mm bolts in the back. One is inside the spindles back hard hidding.
One bolt there other is around the curve of the spindle back.

Step Six: Remove the cotter pincs from the upper and lower bal joints with pliars. Then remove the lower ball joint nut with the 24mm socket.

Step Seven: Unbolt the spindle bolt with 15mm sockets on either side, one for bolt and other the nut. Pull the bolt all the way out of the spindle

Step Eight: With ball joint seperator release the upper and lower ball joints. Start with the lower ball joint fallowed by the upper. When the Lower one is free, stick the seperator in the upper to free it up a little but then just hit the side of the spindle very hard and it will pop out.

Step Nine: Remove the Tir Rod. Unbolt the nut and then put some pressure on the tir rod stem with a jack by jacking it up on it and putting weight on that than hit the part the spindle holds the tir rod end and it will pop it out with out ruining anything.

Step Ten: Remove Old spindle and remove ABS sensor. its held on by a 8mm bolt. I didnt get mine off it was frozen in. i hit it with a big hammer and broke a peice of wood while trying to get it out so im running no abs now ha.

Step Eleven: Install Doetsch Spindles.
Difference in spindles

Step Twelve: Trim A-Frame and Spindle for Turning Radius
Just get a grinder and trim some of the a-frame and some of the spindle so there is room to turn again cus if you dont do this you pretty much cant even make a u-turn on a 6 lane road turning across 3, trust me iv tried ha.
After driving around and hitting it from max turning:

AFter Trimming part of the a-arm and spindle:

looking up at it:

Step Thirteen-Twenty-One is just the steps Nine-One:
I noticed one or two of the new bolts and nuts are different sizes but the rest are the same. The new spindle bolt is where you use the 8mm hex key.

To be honest if I had the cash I would haha, as long as you have a good jack and stands, I should or can get everything else needed for the install, I just dont have a good jack or stands...and if I got the lift right now it would look really weird with the stock tires! cause I would not be able to afford new rims and tires and the two lifts HAHA
