This is why I HATE taps. For me they will either cut the wire in two or not enough.
Glad you figured it out.

Agreed. Although I have had amazing luck with spade connectors.

Re: How To: Put L.E.D. strips in your cab
kool mod, I done it. looks great. I got 16ft for $10 of led strips off ebay, I had extras when I converted and lcd flat screen to led:P it was broken btw.
I connected it to the dome light wire which was green blue striped wire coming out of the passenger fuse box.
I didn't like the dome light being a different color from the leds so I made a 30 led plate out of strips and I replace the bulb with it. now I am thinking bout adding more under the doors.

You could hook them up to your dome light and they should do what you want

Just did mine the other day but I wired mine to my ohc so it comes on with the doors and also with the individual map lights. Looks great.
Only prob is when the doors open, the led lights in the foot well are only half powered. And fully bright when the individual button on the ohc is pressed. Not sure why...any suggestions? Thinking it might be cuz the bulbs in the ohc come on once when the door is open and get brighter when button is pressed. Hard to explain

Re: How To: Put L.E.D. strips in your cab
I just did this mod and it's sweet. I wired it to a toggle switch from the cigarette lighter. Put the toggle switch where the fog light plug is in the radio bezel. Only problem was a really bad cut in the bezel. I only had a hacksaw and a drill to do it. It would have looked much better if I had a dremel.

Doing it this method, do the light come one when the door is open, and when the dinner is all the way up, and the dome lights come on?

Re: How To: Put L.E.D. strips in your cab
Okay, so I have purchased two 12" strips that I am going to put in tomorrow. I want them wired to a switch so that I can turn them off and on as I please without having the dome light come on. From what I've read in this thread this picture that I put together below is how this should be wired. Does this look correct to everyone? Or do I need to do a fuse tap? Thanks guys.
