What do you think I should use the cig lighter or the 12v outlet for the led strip?

I have a question, whats the difference? Your tapping into a 12v hot wire that has the same fuse rating (if im not mistaken) so there is no difference. Am I wrong?

For some LEDs that'll draw less than a radar detector will?

Did you splice all powers together and all negatives and all grounds then connect to 12v.

No, not wrong. They are both standard 12V outlets, the cigarette lighter is just a removable 12v accessory. My truck didn't come with the lighter and was just an open 12v outlet (I made a plug for it to clean up the appearance). I use both outlets for charging phones, running my GPS, and plugging a 400W inverter into. Both are always-hot, 12V, 20A fused, and same gauge wire. At least on my 2001 they are lol

Well at least on my 2011, the left side 12v is designed for a cig lighter as the fuse is something like a 30? and the right side is designed as a 12v acc outlet and has a smaller fuse, im not sure the rating.

When splicing a 3-port acc box into the 12v power at those outlets, I chose the one designed for the cig lighter (the one with the higher fuse rating) as I figured if for some reason I had a bunch of accessories going from that power line at once, it would be less likely to blow the fuse because the fuse rating was higher.

So to be clear, you can use either, just be aware of your current draw.
