Complete waste of money. These take little effort to compress and pop off.

The older metal connections you have to have a tool. These just press in and pull off.

Re: How To: Fuel Filter replacment on 2001-2011 Ranger
when i did mine i didnt remove the fuse for the fuel pump or let it run until it died. pulled it into the shop, opened the gas cap to releave some pressure and then pulled the filter out. didnt spill maybe a few drips of gas during that process.

same here. i didnt need to run the motor down or pull the fuse, i just opened the gas cap, unplugged the switch by the passenger side kickpanel, and changed the filter. Holding up the fuel line the on rear side of the filter is always a good idea cuz thats where the most fuel is going to come out. I did all this and only got a few tinkles on me

Why would you need to change the fuel filter?
Same as why you need to change the air filter. It gets dirty and it it gets extremely dirty fuel wont flow very well.
Over the life of the vehicle rust and other debris builds up in the tank, and eventually makes it way to the filter. The filter keeps it from making it to the injectors.

Defiantly change it.
Some recommend you change it once a year.
