Re: How To: Fuel Filter replacment on 2001-2011 Ranger
All i did was remove the fuel cap. The only fuel i spilled was the fuel in the filter itself. And i had about a half a tank and had just got home from buying the filter.
Maybe I got lucky...

same here but,
I did run the truck after pulling the fuse, and had the cap off. there's always going to be some left in there since part of the filter is lower than the hoses, and they cant get the gasoline out.

Why do you wait 3 hours when doing this can't you do this all in 20minutes?

You can do it when ever. The first time I did it. I changed it out as soon as I got back from the auto parts store. I removed the fuse and let it die and there was still a lot of fuel that came out.
This time I had let it sit for some time before doing it. As you can see there was minimal fuel that came out.

I just changed the fuel filter on my 2003 and the part number listed wasn't the correct one.
The Motorcraft one I used was "FG-1061".

Re: How To: Fuel Filter replacment on 2001-2011 Ranger
I was going to do mine and all was well till i got to the last line. part of the green clip is still there but the part where you have to push in to release the filter is broken off. my thinking is using the tool to disengage it from in inside since the outside is broken off. Before i go this route, any ideas? its 15 bucks for the tool hence the reason im seeking alt. route here.
