I got in the Dorman 800-044 Clips and today I installed them.

They worked just fine, they fit into the ends of the fittings that slide onto the lines on the filter...

I'm good for another 25k miles!!

I'm not so sure how well the clips will hold up to being released for changing the next filter though......

Sure beats replacing the lines though!!

MY setup NEVER ORIGINALLY had to have any sort of tools to remove the ORIGINAL CLIPS.......THEY were a push in type clip-Push the line tight onto the filter then push the clip IN and pull the fitting off of the filter......

MY ranger is an '03 (Edge) and I simply ordered the CORRECT filter and GOT the correct filter for my truck/application.......

I don't understand what all the trouble is with the PO of MY truck AND others getting the wrong filter......seems so simple to ask for and get the CORRECT filter......

Its just unfortunate that some folks are not understanding the CORRECT way to remove the lines from the filter and therefore destroying the original clips in the process.......

PAY ATTENTION TO YOUR APPLICATION FOLKS!! Google is your friend-ALWAYS!!!!!!

Can the fuel filters vary in diameter? The original one i see on my 02 ranger 3.0L is about 3" diameter, the new one I picked up at Napa is a 2.25" diameter. Napa said it's spec'd for my ranger so it will work.

The only problem with that is if it is made like my 2010 ranger is the spring clamp is sized for a certain filter size. Not sure how secure it will be with the wrong size filter. I get my filters from Ford.
