Default Re: How To: Blinker Mod

Finally posting my results. This is with LEDs in both the turn signal and the corner and with an ep27 already installed.

headlights ON: both lights light up, both lights blink, yes alternating
headlights OFF: only the turn signal blinks, corner does nothing

Anybody know more about this? Obviously I'd like both lights to blink no matter what but it would also be nice to not have them alternate.

Its a 2000 but I'm doing a front end swap so I've got an "extra" socket. I wonder if it matters which one you use?

To work as intended, the blinker mod requires the corner circuit to allow current flow in one direction with the head/park lights on and in the other direction with those lights off. That won't work with your single corner LED since an LED will only allow significant current flow in one direction.

STL do you know off hand the Silverstar bulb number? I might as well swap out the bulbs while I have the corners out doing the blinker mod. Also you could use a butt splice instead of quick splice for attaching to the corner light,Correct? Thanks

Don't know the number.
Butt splice is fine but harder to undo if you decide down the road.

If you goto the parts store you will see them. They are the only blue colored ones on the shelf.

I saw that they had blue online at Silverstar I thought they might make a brighter amber bulb. I don't want a amber led bulb because I'm doing the blinker mod. Guess I'll just stick with the standard amber 194 bulb.
Thanks, STL

My side marker lights are not silverstar. They are some random auto zone Chinese led
The actual turn signal is a Sylvania bulb that looks blue but is amber when on or flashing.

I saw those on Amazon, pretty neat as it would make the headlight look better without the egg yoke look.I dropped those bulbs in my wishlist.

Made a youtube instructional on this. Let me know what you guys think. It's not all encompassing, but it may be helpful for some people to see it done.
Thanks!
