Yes seatbelts are a good idea, yes they save lives, yes the "law" says you have to be buckled...

..but godsdamnit, it's my choice not yours. If I want to shut off the annoying beltminder I should be able to without having someone preach at me about it or feel the need to make bullshit excuses about "oh it's just for backing up, or at the farm" or something. [/soapbox]

Lol though, all the people who rushed to post "I buckle up on the pavement" as if it's anyone else's business what you do.

Deerchaser, what year is yours? My 2001 worked just fine for both seats just doing this from the driver, no need to repeat for passenger.

Actually, it's not. So the whole "It's my choice" thing is pretty irrelevant.

Eh?

Lol, not trying to pick a fight here, but how exactly do you figure it is NOT my choice whether or not to buckle up? Are you refering to the seat belt laws? That's the only arguement I can think of that makes any sense in this case, but it's still my choice whether or not to buckle up, (trucks are exempt in my town) as it should be since MY OWN SAFETY is no one's business but MY OWN.

Like I said, not trying to start a forum debate here, I just can't figure out where you're coming from.

Yes that's what I am referring to. So no, it isn't your choice. Your choice is breaking the law and being an idiot.

If you want to shut off the "belt minder" then look it up in the owners manual. All of the instruction are right there. As far as whether or not you should wear your seat belt that could be debated for ever. Its like a helmet law numerous other laws. You have arguments on both side for and against.
