I tried this on my 2000 3.0L V6 and couldn't get it to work either. Is there something with our year that is different because i honestly cannot figure it out.

Any tips STL? I've looked at all the lights and memorized this whole thing.

You're probably looking at the wrong seat belt light. I was originally and it wouldn't work for me, but once I paid attention to the correct light, it worked. Plus (if I remember right) you have to wait for the correct seat belt light to go off at before starting any of it. It takes longer than you think it does.

i'm pretty sure i'm looking at the right one considering there's only like three lights. The one with a person sitting and a seatbelt across his/her chest and its red, right? it takes about a minute to go off, i buckle and unbuckle three times, turn on the lights, turn off the lights, then buckle and unbuckle three times again, but the light never comes on again, so i don't know what to do from there.

Ya, The light never turns on for 3 seconds, but i try buckling and unbuckling one time anyways. No luck. And yes the parking brake is set, doors closed, headlights off, put in park.

I just did mine, took longer to go downstairs and come back up then it did to disable it. I didn't have the parking brake set either? Finally got tired of the g/f telling me that was my truck telling me I was going to die.

One thing that screwed me up several times on this was that I wasn't waiting for the correct seatbelt light. It took at least a full minute or more to go out.

I saw that no one else posted this but on my 2003, if I start it without wearing the seatbelt, all I have to do is physically click the red release button for my seatbelt with my thumb and the ding doesnt come back on until I shut the truck off and start it again

Are you waiting to click it after the chime starts?
