I did this last weekend when I did my tach cluster swap. I just swapped the speedo/odo to the new cluster and I had my 50,784 mile tach cluster. It was actually pretty easy.

Alright so I'm in the process of doing this swap. And dumb me didn't take a picture of.where the needle was at when I took off the rmps gas and all those needles.I did do the wire and battery thing on the speedometer though. Is there any way to reset all the needles so I can put them on right??

I just used a screwdriver, and pushed the speedo counter up... Everything works fine...

there is another 'how to' thread strictly about changing the bulbs. it has the number of the stocks & the leds as well as where to get them from... i believe it's called 'how to change instrument cluster bulbs'...

When this site put their watermark on the images/video links, it killed the video links. You'll have to go to Ranger - Forums . com and locate the how-to where the video links in fact work.

Install your odometer/speedometer gauge into your new cluster using the screws you removed earlier. The stud that the needle slides onto goes through a hole in the gauge face, just keep that in mind.

Remember the AA battery trick from earlier?? Time to do it again! Set it all up and make sure the alligator clips are not touching anything, and hold those leads on the battery. Very gently, slide your needle onto the shaft while ‘power’ is being applied via the AA battery. Now let go of power and let the needle hit the stop. Apply power again. Adjust as necessary until you have multiple tests showing that number you got when you last did this test. In this case, approx 70mph.*
Don't mean to bump such an old thread but I have a question. It says to put the needle back on while power is being applied. So when you put the needle back on with the power applied would you put it on the number that you got on the first test.

I'm going to be just swapping my odometer from my original gauge cluster to the new cluster.

Anyone know part numbers for the motor controlling the odometer? Mine cuts in and out.
