Re: How-To: OHC Install
And I tested it with my Dads hummer, my moms Ford Edge and my bros Durango. The edge is 3 degrees colder than all 3 trucks. Which means where I have mine mounted..works out perfectly!

Uh..yes? It is hooked up to the grn/org one on the OHC, and is tightly secured. I think I am tied into a 12V power for my headlights or something..because the light panel works when I turn my headlights on.

Re: How-To: OHC Install
That is what he is saying.... the dimmer controls the lights on dash when the parking and headlights are turned on so I dunno why it would be recommended to you to hook it up there? seems a lot easier to just do the dome lite add and hook up there

What are all the years and explorer that have these? I'm going to start calling around to junk yards soon and need to know what to look for and what all exact parts to get to install it.

Re: How-To: OHC Install
Most common source is 95~2001 4-door Explorer. Other possibilities are 95~03 Explorer Sport and 2001~05 Sport Trac.
95~97 have a more bluish display. 98+ console displays are green.
There were two different types of overhead consoles available. "Sunroof" consoles can be used but "garage door opener" (non-sunroof) consoles may be a little easier to mount.
Parts: - Complete console assembly
- Sheet metal mounting bracket (above console)
- Ambient temp sensor (near Ex driver side headlight/grille area, has bu/wh and bu/ye wires. Do NOT use the similar looking sensor with rd/or and pk/bk wires)
- Electrical connector for console (cut from Ex harness with 6"+ wires attached)
- Electrical connector for temp sensor (cut from Ex harness with 6"+ wires attached)
- Screws, solder, heatshrink tube, tape, wire, Scotch-Loks, etc. as needed to complete installation.

Re: How-To: OHC Install
Hey all,
Just got my ohc mounted and wired up yesterday. the only thing that i did differently was that i used my temp sensor from my auto dimming mirror that has a temp/comp display. the temperature on the ohc is reading ICE/-40*. is there a way to fix this or will I have to pull an ambient temp sensor from an exploder?

The -40 display means that the console is getting no usable input from the ambient sensor. For most installations, this means a poor connection to the Ex sensor but, in your case, it is probably because of the mirror sensor.
