Re: How-To: OHC Install
Got the sensor in place this am, I ended up putting it where the original poster did, by the front body mount but gonna move it cause im about 20 degrees off from acuweather. Was around 90 today and it was reading 113.
They should of added a clock to the mode! haha

I put mine behind the grill, there were a bunch of holes pre drilled in the radiator support. I just used one of those. It's about 2-7 degrees off from the weather app on my phone. Can you see it through the grill? Yes. Do I care? No.

Whatever works for ya really. But its best to not mount it where wind can directly hit it.
I mounted mine on the frame below the radiator, behind and below the driver side headlight. Its not near direct heat and the valence and bumper block any wind from hitting it.

Re: How-To: OHC Install
I moved it today to just above the fog light. Now its around 10 dregrees higher then acuweather.
When these sensors go bad do they stop working all together or read wrong?
The driving in figure 8 thing does that do anything with the temp sensor or just compass?

That's just for the compass. But the sensor may calibrate itself over time. Drive around with it for a week or so and see if it adjusts closer.

Re: How-To: OHC Install
Been running around still around 10 degrees off, reading thru the thread seems others that had their temps off replaced it and it fixed the prob.
For those that went to a auto store what did you ask for?

Don't buy from an auto store, you'll pay way too much. I think I've got some extra I can sell for way cheaper.

Re: How-To: OHC Install
Curious, that wire you hook up to the speed sensor I think its called..if you say didnt get spliced good will that affect your temps? I have terrible with those tap connectors not making good contact so was thinking about that today.
still 10 degrees off

Re: How-To: OHC Install
I should know this, but does the console power wire (black/blue I think) get key switched power or constant power?
When I'm testing them in the garage, I always connect the dome power, map lights power & console power together but when it's installed in the vehicle I was wondering if the console gets constant power where you have to press the mode button to turn on/off the display or if it's key switched power so it comes on automatically.
Savage03, have you tried moving the temp sensor around again?
I wouldn't think the location would make that much difference as long as it's away from any excess heat generated under the hood, but if yours is still 10* off then something is amiss.

I forgot what my console power taps to but I cannot turn the console on while the keys out tapping into a constant such as dome/maps you would be able to turn it on with the mode button at anytime. Just my $0.02

Re: How-To: OHC Install
Mine dont come on till the key is on. Not sure on lights cause mine dont work, waiting for a buggman light The lame and delicate contacts for the bulbs in mine are messed up beyond repair
I have not moved it since the last time, its currently above the fog light on the passenger side, cant imagine its getting any heat over there
Could maybe go further onto the corner of the bumper...why I asked about that speed sensor hook up or maybe just a bad temp sensor
