it's gotta be a bad sensor, went out and checked it after a couple hours and it's now reading over 100 degrees and went up after a minute

Try switching the wires to the sensor, mine did the same thing.

I didn't have it installed very long, but if the wires or switched or don't have a good connection then the temp will be way off. Mine said it was like 45 degrees when it was like 85. Lol

Then when I switched the wires it read the correct temp.

Thanks!
Before I took the plunge and ordered my OHC from MoterStuff, I had considered the possibility of having an OHC with the sunroof switch.
My thought on it was that the switch could be used for an added accessory, perhaps a light bar, under the dash LEDs?

Since my OHC should be here by the end of the week, I have been reading, and re-reading this thread to make sure all my poop is in nice neat pile. I have downloaded the wiring diagram posted by 2004xlmiller. (Thx BTW) I then saw this post by jacobs_son, and it got me wondering. Would the 3 wires described in that post work as described, and eliminate tapping into the radio harness, keeping as much of the OHC harness together making it more accessible? I want to make sure that if the need came up, and I would have to remove a component, I can make it as close to "plug and play" as possible. My plans include this type of connectors at some points, not only to accommodate removal, but to also keep a cleaner more "professional" look.

----------

I also have a question about wire size. I read where 16-18 ga. is being used, and also read where it said to stay with factory wire sizes. has anybody posted the size of wire Ford used on their OHC harness'?

The OHC came today!
I played errr... tested it, and all is good!

I still have to get wire, connectors, conduit & stuff before I do the install. Maybe order that stuff on Thursday.
I checked the wire sizes on my pigtail, and the black, green/orange, and black/blue, were 18ga., the others were 20ga..
I figured I'd order this wire set, so I will have a different color for each wire on the pigtail, and avoid some confusion.
The pins in the connector are easy enough to remove & change out, but not sure where I could find that type female pin. It would be great to not have 8 splices bundled in there. I only have about 2 1/2" leads to work with.

I went to pick n pull and got 3 wiring harnesses out of exploers solder the wires together to make me one long harness with matching wires. There were 20 explorers at my local pick n pull. I wouldn't use your harness if you only have 2 1/2 inches. Its a tight fit in between the headliner. If you would like I believe I still have a harness left with about 2 feet of wire on it you can have for free. Just pay for postage. Pm if interested

I also have a lot of extra wiring that you're more than welcome to have.

Thank You Both!

It would be fantastic to have all the wires with original markings, but while some splices are unfortunately necessary, I would prefer to have "splice free" wiring from the connector to the components they are connecting to. (It's a CDO thing)
My Local Ford dealership Parts guy couldn't figure out that I was looking for Ford Wedgelock connector pins. Suggested a JY for new parts! LOL

Of course Ebay has them!
Ford Wedgelock Female .060 Terminals/Pins
They are a little pricy at 1.095 each for 10, but for me, it's cheap insurance to not have a splice go bad.

OK I took the plunge!
I figured I'd put it in, and wire it later.

I had read the different posts about cutting the slots, I guess I cheated on that part. I used a Dremel with a small cut-off disk. To protect the edge of the headliner from burns, I used an old dish towel that was not terry cloth to block the sparks.

That grand feeling of accomplishment lasted about an hour.
So I decided to "bite the bullet", and use the only 3 1/2 foot of 18 Ga. wire I had, and wire the lights into the dome. But just until the other stuff gets here.
I made a discovery wiring it to the Mustang dome. There was a pigtail on the MD I didn't use since I could power it through the screws.

I connected the Orange/Green wire from the OHC, to the Green/Yellow wire on the dome pigtail, and matched up the Black/Blue on both. Then fished it through the headliner, plugged it into the dome, and then the OHC, and I got light!!

I'm not real happy with it's position, so when the other stuff arrives, I think I'll elongate the slots a bit, and re-drill the two holes back about 1/2" to move the front end closer to the headliner.

Looks good. I use a box cuter on my headline, worked like a charm.

X2
but the Dremel made cutting the slots in the metal a breeze.
