Re: How-To: OHC Install
Just a question here, have any of you put switches inside the console so they aren't eyesores in the cab?

Re: How-To: OHC Install
Yes, i'm crazy, but i've tossed the ideas around of running wires and switches to the console to hide switches.

Re: How-To: OHC Install
I got one of these ohc sitting here now, just painted the main piece black so its now all black looks good I think...
However I am super scared of this whole cutting thing lol, I have been out a few times and set it up on the liner and just cant go any further
Hard to kinda see how it will sit flush with those tabs cause I would feel better if I could see it flat but do you guys have the nose of it fully forward enough that its touching the window glass?
Also saw someone say their roof was different from original posting so anyone thats done it in a 01 ext. cab edge have any issues?
Not sure it works either but if I were to hook up the ground and the 2 console wires to battery I can see if it comes on?

Yes you can do that to verify it works. It will read -40 if the temp sensor is not also hooked up.

Re: How-To: OHC Install
Most people have trouble cutting the headliner. But mine fits 100% flush with no gaps at all. You just have to measure 76 times, and cut once.
This picture is of my old one before I tightened it up for the final time, and even then it's really close.

Re: How-To: OHC Install
Ok well first thing to verify it works then the dreaded cut...I just dont do well when it comes to measuring and getting it right lol...this is a no going back situation. Could find someone id pay to have them do it!
So no one said, does the front go all the way to the window? Been thru all these pages and not many finished pics and nothing with a good side shot.
Also on average how many feet of wire you all use about? Like to add in the dimming mirror while I was at it...Still gotta find out what im getting into on that

Its very intimidating cutting the headliner. But you can do it! First tip, use chalk to make your outline, that way if you don't like the markings you can wipe it off.
As for where to cut, there's a picture in one of the first few pages of this thread with dimensions on how far from the windshield you want to start. I believe its about an inch of headliner between your cut and the windshield.

Re: How-To: OHC Install
Great way to do it is cut inside your line about 1/4" and test fit. Cut just a tad more little at a time.
I have installed about 10 and I have never just cut once and put one in. Just take time and cut, test fit, cut test fit and so on till its just right.

Re: How-To: OHC Install
Put mine in place today along with a crown Vic dome light it used the same screw terminals for power but was wired with a whip for the car so now I have the wire whip for the dome lights for the ohc. Waiting for my temp sensor and speed sensor before I wire the digital part. But the added light is awesome and it looks cool
----------
Still have to paint the grey trim black

The speed sensor wire ties into the VSS wire. You don't need a sensor.

Re: How-To: OHC Install
Ok so I finally tested to see if everything lights up, question for you pros..
I put the 2 wires for the console together and put them to + and black wire to - and console came to life so appears thats good.
Then put the dome and map light wires together and I got one light coming on so figure a bad bulb on other side but swapped sides to make sure and other side will light but if I push the lamp buttons I get nothing, do you need the console wires hooked up to for those to turn the lights on and off?
Sorry for the newbness....still trying to work the man strength to cut the dam liner lol
Oh I did go this far, it was grey but I wanted all black
