Default How-to: OHC install in older Rangers (┤96)

Hello there everyone!

Thanks to Clinton, I have my OHC installed; this week Ill be installing the Autodim Mirror (its all set up, even the wires, I just have to connect them).

I followed the OHC install instructions from "mossyoak03" which can be found here:

http://www.fordrangerforum.com/inter...e-install.html

The problem is that on older rangers (mine is a ┤96) the mounting plate wont fit like explained on the "how-to", you need to modificate it!

In the picture below, you can see the 2 mounting holes for the screws should be moved. This is, you need to drill 2 new holes near the mounting tabs in order to fit this plate in place.

After you drill those 2 new holes, the rest of the installation is exactly the same as explained on the tutorial (I run the wires of the OHC threw the right A pilar, and the Autodim mirror threw the left A pilar)

Some pictores of them installed;

This is where i mounted the exterior temp. sensor; theres already a hole which has exactly the same diameter as the sensor bracket, will fit stright in!

I think if you have an older Ranger and you want to install this great mod... this is a very important information you should consider... you wont have headaches!!!

Thank you so much to Clinton for sending me these two upgrades... reall a "must-do" mod!!!

Moved to the how to section

Also that is a horrible spot to mount the sensor. You are not gonna get a accurate reading. Needs to be up behind the bumper out of the direct air flow.

Can you please take a picture of the "right" spot to fit the sensor... I thought the Explorer had it in a similar spot like i did

on the explorers the temp sensor is right above the drivers side frame rail directly behind the bumper

other than that looks great man

best mount place is on the passenger side behind the bumper. Check for cowlings or plastic flaps ( should be about 4-8" under the headlight, you can drill a hole and mount it there. It tucks away nicely there

odd I mounted one in my 1993 ranger and used all the same mounting styles as the explorer I did not need to do any of this.

I had my temp sensor behind the head light it worked out fine

man i was hoping this would be for 2nd gens when i saw it on the main page but im not sure if its even possible to put one in a 2nd gen since the headliner is like a completely different angle and im not sure if it has all the wires needed to hook up a temp sensor

looks good in your truck tho!!

Youre right man! I dissambled the front grille and theres a plastic flap. I will move the wire harness I made and istall it there. Thanks good I left a couple of extra inches... I can move the sensor easily!

I appologyse I didnt took pictures... I was very nervous when I realised it was not going to be a stright mount! But I can make a kind of schemme if someone needs it!
