If I crank my bars with an empty gas tank, and then fill up my tank with gas after the lift, will my truck be sagging on the drivers side? I have a 2001 xlt off road edition...

I started to round the head of my torsion bar adjustment bolt. Can you just take them right out? Or do you new the tool that squeezes the bar to relive pressure?

I guess what I'm saying is, if I remove the torsion bar adjustment bolt, can I just put another one in with out any hassle?

I don't know how much pressure are put on the bars, but I wold recommend getting a torsion bar unloading tool.

A lot of people are partially stripping their adjustment bolts (especially the passenger side.) This should make things easier:
A few tips:
1) Use high quality tools: 1/2" SAE 6-point socket (preferrably in the 1/2" drive size.)
2) Try backing the bolts off 1/2 a turn & cleaning them with "PB Blaster." Tighten one full turn then repeat.

Solutions to stripped bolts:
1) Use an impact driver to remove, buy a new bolt, and reinstall.
2) Weld a piece of steel to the head that will allow you leverage.
3) Take it to Ford and let them mess with it.

Is it safe to put the jack stands right there on that cross member? I tried jacking it up right there and the metal was making a lot of noises, I could of sworn I saw it bending...

1) A 1/2" SAE socket seems to fit tighter on my truck than a 13mm Metric socket.
2) A 6 point socket has more surface contact than a 12 point, it might grip bolts better.
3) Use 3/8 or 1/2 inch sockets. I was using the smaller 1/4 sockets. 2 sheared tools later I borrowed a 3/8 set.

Anyone have any more experience/solutions to this problem? I bench 185lbs and I struggle to move the passenger side bolt any further!
Can you just take the bolt out? Or do you need the unloading tool?

Yes.

@tspeed161 you could remove the bolt if it was totally ruined.

I editted my previous post to be more helpful after messing around with the truck today.
