Think I'll revive this dead thread. Looks great Clinton, nice write up also.

This is on my list to do, soon as I can find some step bars in a boneyard to take one missing end cap and clip out of. Stupid stealership wants an arm and leg for one end cap, heck if you were to buy four caps from a stealership you could get a whole new set of step bars for less than it would cost you.

This is next up on my things to do list.

I have Thursday and Friday of next week off (ah, the life of a school teacher), so I plan on attacking it then.

Great write-up by the way. It's much needed for a novice such as myself. If all goes well I will post updates of the finished product.

Not sure if you were still looking, but if you are you can stop. I had a great day at the boneyard this week. got the missing cap and a few spares, plus a center console in charcoal that looked like it came off a showroom floor for 18 us dollars.

my brother-in-law has a 01 expidition that he is re-doing and is replacing step bars with chrome ones and offered them to me for free. They are the ones in the pic below(not his suv but exact same model). They are in rogh shape but feel confident i can recon using this thread. Obviously they are longer than my cab so i was thnking since i have stepside bed, can i run them from wheel well to wheel well. I think i may need to chop the curved part but can still use black caps on it. Will the mounts workor will i need a whole new way to mount them, im sure some fabricating will need to be done, just looking for ideas. Thanks!!
