I have never soldered before, i wouldn't want to ruin it. Do you think it would be easier to use some kind of metal clip where the square hole is. Clip it onto that square opening and pre drill a hole to receive the mounting screw? Does anyone know if this would work?

You don't need to solder. Just wrap the map light wire around that 3rd screw and screw it in upside down. The other 2 screws hold the whole mount to the ceiling sufficiently.

Aren't you worried that over time the map light wire will come loose from the screw?

***Some 2004 Trucks are also plug and play. Only the early model year trucks. If you remove your factory dome light and you see 2 factory wires there you are good to go, and dont need to add a power wire.***

Do you have two factory wires when you remove the original dome light? If not you have to run a power wire like the directions state.

Maybe you shorted a fuse? I know when I did mine I accidentally shorted the fuse for all my headlights which my map light power was tapped into (i had to run a power wire for my map lights), its a 30A fuse, I just swapped it out and the map lights worked great ever since.

I have the fuses working fine. The center part lights up but the 2 side lights will not.

That's what mine did too tho, the dome light would work but the map lights wouldn't, they were two seperate fuses

Not sure on your truck, but did you have to run the power wire for the map lights like in the how to? Or was your power source already there before?

Yea I had run a power wire. Maybe I've got it on the wrong screw though

Ok, cool, so for me it was the 30A fuse that controls headlights and stuff, have you driven at night since this started? That's how I found out what fuse it was, I started the truck and had no outside lights, lol. If you're having the same issue I did than hopefully that's all it is.

Dude. First and foremost, make sure your map lights work at all. This can be done thousands of ways, but easiest would be to take a 2-inch long wire and connect it from your (confirmed working) dome light to your (questionable) map light. Then, making sure your map light switch is in the on position, turn on your dome light.

My Mustang dome light is much longer than the whole in the roof from the stock dome light. This doesn't matter, right?? (2002)
