I'm half tempted to do the mustang dome light ONLY because everytime I try and remove the stock dome light the stupid thing breaks... Why ford designed the one they did where you have to pry the two halves apart is so f'ing stupid.

I end up gooping the inside (white bracket) to the plastic shield. And it's fine and doesn't go anywhere UNITL I need to remove it then I have to pry it off breaking it again, only to goop it when it's done to fix it.

The mustang one looks like it's , remove the clear cover, then 3 screws and done.

So I just bought the black mustang dome since it will go with the black headliner I just did.

One stupid question. Currently my 2 bubble dome lights up when the doors open.

Does the mustang dome have all 3 lights on when you open a door or just the center, or the two outer lights? Is it configurable so that you don't have to have it light up at all...etc?

Actually last question, since I haven't seen these on standard cabs how does the map lights actually work as far as shining light? I know on the extended cabs they are mounted on the ceiling but the standard cabs it's mounted on the back at an angle which makes me believe that if I turned the map lights on the light wouldn't actually be useful... where as the stock blob/bug light is actually aimed correctly for this on standard cabs.

IIRC - Only the center lamp reacts to the door position (on when opened, off when closed). The outer lights are switched map lights (a manual "on demand" situation).

Not that I'm aware of.

It's just a pretty typical dome / map light setup.

Just got the mustang dome put in my single cab.

OVerall looks nice. I changed out the center for the LED that I had and it's AS bright as my double bubble eye stock light so that's good.

Bad news is the stock lights for the map lights point at the driver dash and the passenger airbag...lol

Once I get my leds in for the two map lights I will be able to angle them down I'm sure. But so far so good. Looks good, I was contemplating the explorer map light as that looks like a good option for single cabs as well.

I'll update once I get the rest of the LEDS in.

I have a 99 XLT and I used a dome light from a 92 Mustang LX. It bolted right in and works.
