Hah! Not for me...the Mustang DL I tried to install in my '02 has been nothing but a pain in the butt; may have to go back to the original.

Re: 2004 and up Ranger to Mustang Dome Light Mod
It was basically plug and play for me. Forgot to ask MotorStuff what year Mustang it came out of. The map lights only come on with the switchs, But I'm happy with it.
I figure after the OHC install, there will be plenty of light

I have thought about that, I'm gonna have to check into it a bit further. Actually, I have "daydreamed" about replacing all the lights (inside & out) with LED's.
The good thing is, I'm just a river away from Ky., so depending how far/deep in there buggman is, I might save some on shipping. lol

Re: 2004 and up Ranger to Mustang Dome Light Mod
I thought this might be useful to others who may be doing both the Mustang Dome, & OHC mods.
I made a discovery not mentioned in the OHC How To, that pertains to the Mustang dome.

Im not sure. I think it is a direct swap no need to add a power wire.
|
*Please Note*
I didn't read much further after those quotes (posts 2 & 3), and ventured out on my own. So if this was mentioned earlier, I apologize for the repeat.
I couldn't tell you what all years/models this will work on, but....
Since on the '98, you can use the mounting screws to connect the power (ultimate plug-n-play!) to your dome instead of cutting & splicing & such, the pigtail is freed up for those doing an OHC install. I'm not certain the year my Dome is, (I forgot to ask lol) but it has 3 wires Green/Yellow, Black/Blue, and Black.
From my OHC pigtail, I matched the 2 Black/Blue wires, and the Orange/Green to the Green/Yellow on the Dome Pigtail. So now the power is supplied to my OHC lights through the OEM connector on the dome light.
Feels like Plug & Play!
I like plug-n-play. It rolls off your tongue just like *POP*.

Re: 2004 and up Ranger to Mustang Dome Light Mod
Just did my '11 sport. Looks works/great!
I would suggest adding to the original mod post that the later model Rangers(at least the 2011s, not sure about the other years) do not have a green wire with orange stripe present to splice into and instead need to use the larger of the two white wires with the red stripe. After going nuts looking for the green wire I finally found the answer a couple pages in this thread. Still it was a nervous 10 minutes with everything tore apart trying to figure out what the hell was going on lol

Re: 2004 and up Ranger to Mustang Dome Light Mod
So, just did the swap into a Reg cab 2003 Edge. I got 2 dones, 1 out of a f150, 1 out of a f350.
Now, the bottom corner on the passanger side sticks out but the driver doesn't see it, so idc...
When I open the doors, no lights turn on, but when I flip a switch lights turn on just as expected. So, if my middle bulb isn't burned out (haven't checked yet) what might be wrong?

I looked at the time and realized I was cutting it close to being late to class, after it ends, I'll check the bulb, hopefully that's it... would tightening it disable only 1 of 3 lights? If so I'll check that too!

Re: 2004 and up Ranger to Mustang Dome Light Mod
Yea mine would shut off one of the side lights, think it tweaks the plastic and looses contact. Just snug is fine.

Re: 2004 and up Ranger to Mustang Dome Light Mod
Well, not sure what it was, I guess magic elves snuck in while I was at class. I opened the door, screwdriver in hand, and was greeted with light!

Re: 2004 and up Ranger to Mustang Dome Light Mod
I did this and the 3rd brake light replacement mod yesterday. The bed lights on the sides fo the 3rd brake light stay on all the time and the brake light does nothing. The dome light and map lights don't do anything either. I added the power line to the dome light on my 2004 that had only one wire, and ran the jumper wire from the dome light to the 3rd brake light for the bed lights to power and connected it to the switched power wire on the dome light. No blown fuses, new bulbs, and removed the negative cable at the battery before anything was touched. I'm lost.
