yes, just close the hood when you take the IAC off and work in the garage or in your house.

use MAF cleaner (others may affect coatings) and q-tips, soft rags, etc. NO BRUSHES or SCOTCHBRITE as it will scratch the non-stick surface. This is preventive maint. to ensure proper idle for emissions, mpg and convertor life. just do it. and get gasket before job.

only if it is broken, get spare before job.

Not for the IAC. When you take off the IAC, just simply clean it good and install it back on the truck. I did this my last oil change and I did not need to replace no gasket.

did it to 4 of our vehicles today. my truck ,brothers, dads 86 ranger and dads 04 tundra. All of them made a huge improvement!!
and there is a gasket for the 01 rangers with the aluminium intake and no gasket for the 02 with the plastic air intake. It has 2 O rings. And the 86 ranger had a nice think gasket on it. I need to get a new one for my 01. It had a crack in it but i don't think its that big of a deal it ran perfect on idle and when driving.
here is before and after shots :

after:

so did i with the CRC m.a.f sensor cleaner. Got the shit out quick! And My dads 86 received the most out of this. It was running ok but after this we had to tune the throttle on it because it was running with to many rpms lol my dad really like how it worked. He took it around the block a few times until he had it tuned back in spec and he likes.
