Re: How To: Add aux jack to stock radio
Also what was the female plug that you used 3.5mm...
I am going to get this one: Stereo female 3.5mm Or are you using a mono female? (Unbalanced)
My question would be on the tip/ring/sleeve.
Normally when wiring stereo up you would have Left audio at the tip, right audio at the ring, (or reverse those depending on how you want the audio swapped..etc) then the drain/ground on the sleeve... I noticed here there is no speak of a ground on the connector...
Just looking for clarity.
Thanks,
-Nigel

I wired mine up as mono because i simply forgot to run a ground at the time and did not want to have to open up the bezel again otherwise you can connect your ground wire to the radio container and your right and left wire accordingly

Re: How To: Add aux jack to stock radio
Actually this is more to us.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Ford-03-Rang...82481384268489
"I have added in the AUX mini 3.5 m stereo input head phone jack (when you plug in your MP3 or AUX audio, it will cut out the signal of the radio and take your AUX input in. It is direct input to Preamplifier section."
So it makes me wonder is there another way that one can do this so that you don't have to use the blank cd... I'd rather the above method because then I don't have to fumble with cds...etc. Just plug it in and it cuts the radio...
I like the placement of the input as well:
Looks like the above site does this will all stock radios and what not... so there has to be a way of doing it...

Re: How To: Add aux jack to stock radio
So I can't stop trying to find out how to do this... Certainly there has to be some type of engineer in here...lol
Found this on a z06 forum... We need this type of switch.
Quote from the site:
"When a 3.5mm stereo plug is inserted into the jack, audio from the XM receiver is disconnected and audio from the plug is connected."
Here is a photo of the jack wiring:
Diagram of the switch:
http://www.kawal.net/jack.pdf
So I guess there has to be a way of wiring this to take over the "radio" input since it would switch the input from the radio directly to whatever you are plugging into the 3.5mm jack...
Anyone have anymore info or insight?

Re: How To: Add aux jack to stock radio
So I just tried doing this mod and it appears my stereo is a little different...
I don't appear to have a L or R solder points....
I have the factory 1 disc cd player and when you look at the back it's slanted:

Re: How To: Add aux jack to stock radio
Edit: Warning I have not tested this Hook up but after some research from the supplied pictures from Nigel(NewShockerGuy) I believe these should pics should show you how to wire this style of radio
solder points marked in red
pin diagram of the processor to check my layout
counting top-bottom pins 1,2 left Negative,3 left Positive,4,5,6 Right Negative,7 Right Positive
Hope that helps?

Does your cassette deck player only play on the right side? with only a little output on the drivers side? I HATE that

Re: How To: Add aux jack to stock radio
mine plays on all speakers but yes only out of the right side of the cassette but all speakers
if yous does that, your fade (on the radio) might need adjusting

Solder one point to the right positive and another to the left positive for stereo. As long as you solder probably nothing should happen
