Thanks. But did anyone prove that soldering to those 2 points worked?

do you mind posting a picture of where you soldered?

what if you soldered to the ribbon that connects the cd player to the base? you could solder to the points on the cd player that connect the ribbon. two of those wires have to be L out and R out. but im not sure which ones are.

I found a better way on Instructables.com http://tinyurl.com/letsad7 I did this this weekend and it overides the radio, Works pretty neat. It attaches to the tuner output before the amp.

bumping an old thread, hoping someone can help me here. My CD board looks different than any I think I've seen. I'm not an electronics expert, so I'm hoping someone can circle the points I'd need to solder to on the attached pic. Thanks. http://imgur.com/4XkMdoq

Anyone ever figure this out? this is the exact board i have in my radio and want an aux in BAD BAD.

I figured that I would make this post and revive this thread since i had found it difficult to do this mod since many of the picture were too small/blurry/non-existant so I figured that after succesfully completing this mod that I would share my photos of the project and leave it here for future reference.

Let's Get started

So to do this you obviously need a few things

• hot glue gun
• soldering iron
• iron tinner
• flux (if wanted)
• wires small fiberous style (not solid, var. colors)
• wire strippers
• torq wrench unkwn size
• 3.5mm to screw adapter (Or a 3.5mm plug)
• heat shrink for the wires
• cd burner

3.5mm adapter for reference:


1. First you wanna open your radio, this is for the single cd no tapedeck slanted back radio.






2. You want to remove the cd player, careful as there is a ribbon cable connecting it to the radio underneath.




3. What we want to get to is the underside of the cd player chip, the area you are looking for is circled in red.




Here is a close up labelled of the soldering points, for the ground wire I was unsure of the point to solder, I secured mine on the back of the radio with one of the screws. (BE CAREFUL THEY ARE SMALL, YOU WILL NEED A THIRD HAND, IF YOU CROSS CONTACTS BE SURE TO CLEAN FULLY)


4. After soldering secure each wire with a squirt of hot glue. I recommend securing them one at a time since the points are so small they could break off from moving the wire too much.



5. Close the radio back up and route the wires out of the back of the radio near the vehicles antenna port since the hole are already there. Run the wire behind the dash to the location of your choice. I wire mine to appear in a small gap between my center console and dash on the passenger side near the glovebox.



6. Burn yourself a blank cd with silent tracks (1 cd with tracks about 10 or so minutes in length) pop it into your radio and enjoy your new aux cord!
