a few weeks ago I cleaned the maf sensor it with throttle body cleaner, so I did a considerable distance because of the sensitivity of the filaments, is the right way?

well, your supposed to clean it well with MAF sensor cleaner, not throttle body cleaner. hope it didn't mess something up.

Lol is the a special tipe of torx bit ? And how do i get the black stopper thing off ?

yes, some rangers have 'security torx' or 'tamper proof torx' screws to fasten the maf sensor housing down. i paid $1.99 for my special torx bit.

and the black resin crap in the torx bit hole, this is what i did:

i managed to turn them with needle nose pliers on the outside of the two bolt heads (not very fun).
2nd, i took a torch and burned the plastic/resin stuff out of the bit holes (it came right out).
3rd, i proceeded to clean the maf & reinstalled using the tamper-proof/security torx bit that i bought.

now i don't have to worry about it anymore

Night and day after I cleaned mines, there was a little piece of leaves stuck in my mass Air. Runs smoth again!!

Changed the air filter with a k&n filter drop in and while I was at it cleaned off the MAF with appropriate cleaner.

First off I bought this truck used, there is no cover on the headlight it looks as though the previous owners removed it, or never put it back on after work was done. When I pulled the filter out, it was all crinkled on not sitting in it's seat right so I was glad to change that out. When I got to the MAF I took it off, and to my surprise a spider had made a really nice web all around the wires on the sensor and the wires them selves were black.

Prior to doing this work the truck didn't feel or sound bad, but I thought I should do it out of routine maintenance when you buy a used truck. I wasn't able to drive it after but I am hoping I notice some improvement.

So I am currently in the middle of this and I have a question. I took off the whole airbox off of the truck and brought it into my table in the house and pulled everything apart. Once I got the air filter out i noticed a little sensor in the bottom of the air box. I have googled the sensor and maybe it is the Air Charge Temperature Sensor?? Anyways i was hoping to find out what this is and if it can be cleaned, and how, cause it is really dirty.

Great how to. My Ranger was in a rollover before i bought it and there was oil in the air filter housing and the air filter was saturated. I'm not sure how long the truck was upside down. Either way I cleaned the MAF Sensor using the recommended cleaner and the little hiccup I had is gone. Runs smooth, idles smooth, and I might be hallucinating but the brakes work better to; maybe booster ties into common vacuum I dunno. But yea, great how to. Should clean it every air filter change. Improves fuel economy too.

i'm sure that maf cleaner or electrical parts cleaner will be just fine on it.

Will brake cleaner, WD40 or rubbing alcool do? i mean i clean electronics (my job) with alcool all the time?
