Default Mirror Conversion: '00 to '04 Manual Folding Mirrors (Direct fit/Bolt-On)

I know there are quite a few write ups on how to do the mirror conversions but some of them require you to saw and sand. The route I went was direct fit/bolt-on. This procedure was done on my 2000 Ford Ranger XLT 3.0L V6 Extended cab. I purchased 2004 Ford Ranger mirrors for this conversion.

The mirrors I used can be found here: http://www.ebay.com/itm/271702992532...%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

Tools required:
Phillips head screw driver
Flat head screw driver
T15 bit
11mm socket and ratchet or screw driver with 11mm socket bit

Bought my truck with these ugly OEM "flag" style mirrors along with the blind spot mirrors already on them.

In with the new mirrors. I purchased these '04 Ranger mirrors from an eBay seller out of Dallas, TX. Their eBay name is everydayautoparts

I went with the '04 mirrors because I like the look better than the '06 mirrors. These mirrors feel high quality, easy to adjust/fold in, came really well packed including new triangle rubber pieces, and were bolt-on! I received them fairly quick and they come with a 1 year limited warranty from the seller.

Step 1: Removing the door panel

There will be (x3) Phillips head screws to remove as shown.

Remove door handle trim piece by pulling toward you. It should just pop out. (Completely optional: once you have removed the trim piece, inspect the tabs to ensure none of them broke off.) Below this piece will be one more Phillips head screw to remove.

Next, you will need your flat head and T15 bit. Use your flat head to gently lift the handle cover towards you and it should pop right off giving you access to the T15 screw. Once the screw is out, you simply just pull the whole window handle off. Be sure to keep the plastic washer with it!

After all the screws have been removed, lift the door panel up and out towards you. This step is pretty easy - just make sure you lift it over the door locks.

Step 2: Removing the mirrors

There are (x3) 11mm nut washers to remove. You may have to remove a white adhesive piece to access the bottom two.
Note: Unless you have extras laying around, be sure to carefully pull the nut washers out because they could fall down into your door!

Once you have removed two, be sure to hold onto the mirror so it doesn't fall on the ground (or have a buddy hold on to it).

Step 3: Installing the new mirrors

This step is really just reversing the removal steps. Place the new mirror in the existing holes, re-use the nut washers to bolt the mirrors on (you can use loc-tite here but I just hand torqued mine and they are solid), set the door panels back in place, and screw everything down!

Step 4: Adjust your mirrors to your liking. To adjust these specific mirrors, you just press the area you want to move and it glides really smoothly to the position you desire.

Step 5: You're done, have yourself a beer!
