Default Releasing fuel system pressure before fuel pump change?

Before replacing the fuel pump I need to release the fuel system pressure. I don't want to struggle with the release valve (Schrader Valve) on the right rear of the rail because of the impossible location. I'm told the inertia fuel switch can be used. How do I use (operate /un-operate) the inertia switch to release the fuel system pressure?

you trip the inertia switch, then run the truck until it stalls, that will drop the fuel pressure in the lines to nothing.

if you dont want to mess with that, just pull the fuel pump fuse, or unplug the fuel pump (assuming youre pulling the bed and have already done so) and run the truck until it stalls.

Question Re: Releasing fuel system pressure before fuel pump change?

Hay......SAVES..............thanks! Pulling the fuse seems the most logical.

Yes I am planning to remove the bed.

Any does or don'ts on removing the bed??

Measure the gap between cab and bed to get it aligned back up.
Unplug brake light harness before pulling it off.

Fuel pump replacement complete !!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for the advice.

One thing.............I had purchased a fuel pump removal tool ($90). It worked great with a 3 foot breaker bar. Wouldn't want to do it with a hammer and punch as described in most of the browsing I've done.
Even with the special tool it was a tough exercise, but worked exactly as advertised.

All Good!!
