Good write up.

but the guy that asked about removing the rotor has a 4x4, in which all you would have to do to get the rotor off is remove the caliper bracket and the rotor will slide right off. No need to remove the wheel bearing/hub

Are all 2wd rangers like that for the front rotor? I was hoping it was just the slide on-off style.

Looks like I'm taking my truck somewhere to get the rotor cut lol

Ya all 2wd are like that. You can pull the rotor off and machine shop will charge like around 15 bucks for each one. A shop to remove and turn them will be around 100 bucks maybe even more.

You mean turned? Are they warped or just a little off?

If you wanna drive out to Jamul I can do it for you. My grandfather has a lathe at his house we use. Take about 2 hours to do both rotors, replace pads, and clean & repack bearings.

We can talk about it at the meet if you want?

the wheel shakes a bit when im braking, i think theyre a wee bit warped from the rain and flooding fontana got during the weird rains. i might have a place to get them cut, but i'll definitely talk to you about it at the meet!

If the new rotors come with the races already installed yes. If they don't have races u can transfer them and use same bearings.

LIke STL stated, but id recommend if you buy new wheel bearing, you can get them with new races for the rotors. For instance when I bought new rotors, pads, and wheel bearings the rotors already have races installed in them but theres no way of knowing if they match perfectly to your timken bearings. You could prolly run em and be fine but I ended up taking out the races of the new rotors and put the timken ones from the new bearing kit. Turns out they were slightly different. They prolly still would have been fine but just something to think about.

ok - I need help. I replaced both rotors and pads, put all together and it sounds like it is rubbing (metal sound). Everything seems good and tight, maybe too tight?
