I was just wondering if anyone else has turned their powerdome hood into a functioning cowl like I did. I had an extra hood to play with that was damaged in the front. I cut away a little at a time and checked for strength between each cut. I ended up taking off all of the back part and most of the "support" that runs across the back. After I got enough material out of the way to provide suitable airflow without compromising the strength, I performed the operation on my good hood. I have been running it that way for over a year now with absolutely no structural issues with the hood. Obviously you wouldn't want to go tapdancing up on the hood after doing this, but it supports its own weight just fine. This is very handy if you have an e-fan conversion that doesn't necessarily work as well as the old mechanical fan and have a tendency to work the motor hard at low speeds. It gives the excess heat somewhere to go without needing as much force to push it out from under the hood.
