So now that I've had this "SPORT" for 3 months. I realize that the steering wheel is too big, the turn signal lever has to be pushed WAY up or down to activate it (bad ergonomics.) It's as if Ford found parts in an old 1977 bin and used them to save money.... The 'rack' (rack & pinion) had to be replaced at 38,000 miles as well as the power steering pump. The transmission still 'shakes' though. As in the whole truck trembles when shifted from forward to reverse. That double console lid in the center is so obsolete and annoying and feels like it's going to break if you lean on it too hard.
On the asset side, it's very quiet on the road and the seats are very comfortable.
As long as you can afford the gas to propel it, it's an okay truck, underpowered even though it has a 4.0L. It's way too heavy. Nothing nimble about it! I miss my Toyota SR5 though... A truck that is properly engineering for the human kind.

Yep I gotta agree with you I favor the sport over the XLT as well.

I just bought my 09 Ranger sport 5 speed manual about 4 days ago. I love it compared to my old Focus Stationwagon
