Default tow hook bolts

does anyone know what size bolts hold on the tow hooks? i wanna take them out, re-paint my hooks and put some new grade 8 bolts in.

Well i can probably guarantee they aren't going to be standard, so look for some metric class 10.0 or 12.9 (they are as strong as grade 8, only metric has a different rating for strength) flanged head bolts.
you can just pull them, bring them to the hardware store (a good one...not home depot or lowes), and check the thread there and buy the correct sized and strength.

I think they are 15s if i remember correctly. They are a PIA the ass to get out. They have loctite on them and if they've never been loosed, its no fun! When i put an impact gun to them and they didnt budge, i knew i was in trouble. plus you have to work in the gap between grille and header panel. i dk what it like on an 01, but thats what it was like on my 06.

I changed my hooks to the level II ones:

ya i slowly realized that all the bolts on my truck arent standard lol but i wonder if ford can tell me the size of the bolt? and im pretty sure tsc wont have that size, where would u get them from?

Yeah there isn't much standard on these trucks....

i can check the thread on a spare set of hooks i got at home...but i'm at college driving home in a little so it own't be until tonight.

I'd get them from Ace or someother good hardware store. Some local owned hardware stores got everything....otherwise you can get them from mcmaster.com or something.
