Weird ac issue
Ok so yesterday on the way to work ac was working great as usual. Halfway there though the compressor shut off. Later that day I jumped the low level pressure sensor to diagnose it. The ac clicked on and worked great, i picked up a new one and swapped them out and the ac worked great again. Just to be sure I threw on the gauges and the levels seemed fine. Well again this morning halfway to my way to work it shut off. The compressor can be jumped via shorting the switch harness and it works great. Is it likely I got a bad switch or is there something else I can check? There is no evidence of leaks and the gauges read fine. Any thoughts?

Re: Weird ac issue
When you checked pressures, did you remember to rev and hold (for a min or two) the engine at about 1,400RPM, fan on high, A/C on max, and the windows down? And when it was correctly set up for taking pressure readings as just noted, was there any evidence showing on the high side of air in the system or excess high side pressure?

Well I did rev and hold it but I don't have a helper or a tach so just bby ear. In any case the pressures seem fine and within specs. Like I said if I jump the harness it will run fine and cold, nothing has been changed or worked on recently. hmm

Re: Weird ac issue
Maybe it's just me, but if it were mine I'd hook up gauges and in this case and for this test, especially the head side, run it as I described earlier, and I'd watch that gauge like a hawk for abnomalties over time, like for example, maybe twice as much time as it takes for the system to cut out while driving. I hope it's not a longgggg time either.
I don't know the history on your vehicle therefore I have no idea if the system has been open, if it's been serviced and maybe not correctly evacuated, etc etc, so I'd start with the basics and work my way up. In you case and from what I've read in this thread, if the pressures appear normal on the surface and yet, after you've drove it awhile the system was dropping out, I'd be wondering about air in the system (HP cutout) or if there was any moisture in the system and if it was freezing at the orifice tube. This, of course, assumes that there is no electrical issue of any kind.

^^ X2 I believe you have moisture in the system, causing freezing at the orifice tube.
Just curious ,what was the reading on the gauges , generally should be around 40 low side to 195 high side.
