Default Lift or f250? Help

I currently have a 1997 Ranger with 140k miles. I'm wanting a lifted truck but wasn't sure if I should buy a newer year or not. My truck is probably worth $4.5k.

I found a 2000 Ranger for sale at a dealer. In the same shape as mine with 114k miles. They want $6.9k.

I also found a 2001 F250. 7.3L V8 with 225k miles. Lifted on 35s. They want $8.5k

I want to know what I should do. Should I lift my 97? Or buy the '00 and lift that? Or should I buy the diesel truck?

Would it be cheaper to have a lifted ranger?
I would like a 6" lift with 33s for a ranger.
Any suggestions/thoughts on lifting a ranger? What lift kit..etc.
And what kind of dual mufflers would be good?

thats alot of miles on the f250 plus, it depends on how much money you have to spend on fuel, i would get a lifted ranger.

Ya I thought the same on the miles but the f250 is a diesel and people say diesels last awhile. I'll probably go with lifting a ranger. Jut need help on right lift kit etc.

Where are you living with Rangers going for those prices? How much would my ranger go for w/ 80k on the engine & 178k on everything else?

The 7.3 if taken care of can easily do 500k miles. Some have done more

Even though diesels will last 500K+ easily, be wary of buying a used diesel unless you know the history of the maintenance.

A diesel is an expensive investment, all your repairs cost more and if the truck was not well maintained it could really bite you

My uncle has a 7.3l and he has 315k miles on it and still runs better than a cummins. If you take real good care of it, it will last you for a long time. Rough country has some good suspension lift kits for rangers, but for only 93-97 rangers though.

Lift your truck. It would cost more to lift the 00 ranger. I would be a little afraid to buy something with 300k miles on it.

Not if you know what you're looking for. Diesels last to 400k+

You still don't know how it was treated or maintained.

I'd feel way more confident in buying a car with 50k miles than 200k...
