gas gauge problems

im starting to work all the kinks out of my truck finally but right now this is top priority. My gas gauge doesnt read acuratly, it will show it lower than it really is and i was wondering if this was because the rear end of my truck is roughly 3 to 4 inches higher than the front.

any imput would be greatly appeciated thank you

It is more likely that the float in the tank has a pin hole it it.This has been a problem with the older sender floats.I Know that Ford use to sale replacements due to this.

ok well the weird thing is, is that when i floor it the gauge actually goes up a tad. and when im driving it goes down really fast but once it goes to E it goes back up to like an 1/8th of a tank

Ive got a 03 Edge and mine does the same thing but its not a huge difference. This truck is about 2 inches higher in the rear also. Mine isnt always as dramatic as 1/8th of a tank but it is clearly noticable. I just always assumed that its normal because it is lower in the front.

hmm that weird. i wonder if it is the ride height that makes it do that? and if so where could i find a cheap leveling kit?

I think it is the ride height. I have torson bars so I could just torque them to level but im not cuz i have plans of coilovers and race suspension after college and into the navy. With you, you probably have coil springs in the front. You could try coil spacers or work on drop shackles in the rear.
