I have a 2001 Ranger Edge 4.0 6 cylinder. I got a code for the EGR valve about a year ago. When I changed it, the code would not go away. But I don't drive my truck that much and one day I started it up and the check engine light was off. Well, I took a trip this past weekend and the light came back on. Same code for EGR is coming up. Does anybody know what might be causing the EGR code. I have checked the wiring around it. The guy at Autozone said to try gas treatment, so I did that. Also, is it hurting anything if there is a problem with the EGR in some way?

I'm Just going to Replace The DPFE in mine first because they Go bad more often then the rest of the EGR Components. I've Also put a vacuum to the top of the EGR valve and the Truck almost Stalled, So Supposedly the Valve itself is ok.
