Smile Rough Idle / Poor Acceleration / WOT is Awesome

Hello, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang here,

I am new to this forum and am looking for help! I'm willing to send $ via Paypal to the first person that can help me with this problem. The less $ I have to spend on dead ends the more I can send to someone on this forum.

I am looking for technical help with my 1995 Ford Ranger with a phenomenal 2.3L's of FURY under the hood!!! It's known locally as the ''Black Pearl'', I will posts pics of it later.

Anyways.. I came here looking for help in diagnosing a problem with the engine. It starts perfectly, idles like ''$h1T'', accelerates like ''$h1T'' initially...... but once I get the RPM's past a certain point, it runs fine! But as soon as I come to any kind of stop; she idles like a top fuel dragster, motor kicks and bucks like a worm being choked out by a zip-tie? Looks like I'm driving down state OHRV trails but I'm not moving.... the cab and body looks like a fish out of water??? Almost seems like she wants to die right then and there but the idle is just high enough to keep her running.

I take off from the stop, I get sputtering initially then it goes away, I shift gears, and the sputtering comes back initially then goes away again, and I shift again and the sputtering or hesitation is initial then goes away after a certain RPM, what that RPM is I have no clue due to no tachometer on the dash???

I have done everything under the sun from plugs and wires, to MAF and Injectors... It almost seems internal?? Worn cam lobes or something IDK, Timing ???

The truck has 262,000 miles on it and I have run out of options on what to do next.

I have disconnected or removed every ''emissions'' system in the truck as my state doesn't require emissions on state inspection on 95's or earlier models.

I bought the truck 2-3yrs ago and the truck drove like ''$h1T'', I disconnected the 2x 02 sensors and it ran beautifully up until about 3 months ago. I have been slowly doing things to it and wasting a ton of $ and I'm running out of options. I recently did an oil change myself and had the U-joints replaced by a family mechanic. It ran like crap before the oil change and before the U-Joints were replaced.

Again I have done plugs and wires, MAF, air filter, fuel filter, fuel pump, fuel sending unit, fuel regulator, all four injectors, both coil packs, fuel rail, IAC, EGR, PCV, vac lines.. umm, the list is a mile long.... She idles like a top fuel dragster but runs smooth after a certain RPM... Any help with this would be great. Then I can change my forum name to Smooth Sailing or whatever..... lol =)

To recap...
Idle = Sucks
Low to mid range throttle = sucks till ???RPM
WOT = Awesome !!!

What gives???

I need a good duct tape, popsicle stick, super glue kinda trick at this point. It's about all I can afford right now... I have a car and a motorcycle to get around for the time being but the ''Pearl'' has a certain aura about her if you will and I can't let her go to the local bone yard...

Hey, Chitty. Hook everything back up and replace the front O2 sensor and the ECT sensor.

----------

It is not an internal engine issue. It runs perfect in "open loop"!

----------

Just wondering before you did all that work did you do fuel pressure tests or check for codes? You have obd-2.

After a certain rpm the motor will free wheel, makin the engine sound good. After you hook everything back-up,see if anything changed. If not then look into a cracked plug. Try this to check for misfire, start truck,put on brakes, put in gear and rev the engine a little and listen. It will miss and act like spark nock.
