Default Steering Wheel Problem

Hi,

My Ranger has a problem with the steering wheel.

First, it has a little play before the wheel would respond, about half to 1 inch. Its especially bothersome when i drive over puddles as the wheels would jerk around.

Secondly, my wheel and tire doesnt seem to allign, I have to have the steering slightly tilted to the left in order to go straight.

I have recently changed the left side suspension, cross joint, and idle arm. It has fixed some of the wobble, but its still noticable.

Any help would be gladly appreciated.

I guess if it was me I would take it to a reliable alignment shop and pick their brain to start and if you are a do it your selfer I would get the parts and fix it myself..If not tell them to have fun...Sounds like you will eventually need a alignment anyway... Hope you find a solution...

Hi Bob,

As matter of fact i forgot to mention i have been to the wheel alignment guy. He did mention the front left wheel is slightly thinner than the right. And the rear left wheel is starting to buldge. Its funny, i should have atleast a good 10.000 km left. :/ but other than that he said all is good.

I will get a new set of rubbers, and see if that fixes up a bit.

With the wheel play though, he said rangers ussually have some due to its height? Im not buying that...

I think he didn't word it right a Ranger is not going to handle like a Corvette or Honda v6 Accord, I think that was what he was trying to tell you... Sounds like new tires ought to fix you up..
