Default Pro's and Con's of 2WD?

My 2002 Ranger is a 2WD 3.0L Auto. And I want to know exactly what are some benefits of 2WD that 4x4 does not have? I know it may very well be only 1 or 2 things since 4x4 is the more useful way to go, but I'd still like to know.

Also, for you guys out there that have a 2WD like me, do you have to put up with people always talking trash about your 2WD and calling it a girls truck? It's prudy humiliating when all your buddies have 4x4's and your the only 2WD, and yet it seems my little 3L 2WD is doing more work than any of the other guys, pulling 14' construction trailors and hauling full beds of wood...

I have a 2WD, and I haven't had a problem in dry terrain. The only person who antagonized me for it was this conceited chick who lived out of her Bronco and said my Ranger wasn't a "real truck" because it didn't have 4x4, but she didn't like me very much and would have found anything to use against me.

Honestly, if you think your buddies are going to make fun of you, then learn how to offroad 2WD style and make them apologize when you pull them out of the mud.

I may be wrong, but I believe Clinton has a 2WD, look at some of his photo albums for inspiration.

Only idiots call a 4x2 pickup a girl truck......unless it's painted pink.
If you don't need 4wd it's kind of silly to buy a truck with it because not using it often enough can't be too good for the transfer case and hubs.
As long as the truck does what's required for it's intended use, why take the chance of expensive repairs in the future?

2wd is generally cheaper and easier to work on. Insurance costs less as well.

If you get a locker you can get almost as much traction as a 4x4 with open diffs, if not the same amount. I think it all has to deal with the drivers skill and throttle usage. If you learn how to work it good, then you'll be fine. I have a 2wd and she hasn't let me down yet!

I have a 2wd I didn't want a 4x4. My dad always had a truck when I was growing up he always said if I can't make there in 2wd then I don't need to be there. All my trucks where 2wd.
