Default what should the axle gear ratio be on a ford ranger with 31 in tires

got a 2003 2wd with 31s i need some good mpg or spedo fixed it what do i need done here.

What gears do you have now? Most likely 3.73 but you can stay with that. 4.10 would be the highest you could go

Better take off but higher rpms on the high way. I'd stick with 3.73 if that's what you have.

I like my 3.73s with the 31s. Decent highway mileage and enough torque when off road.

If its a 4 cyl go for 4.10 at bare minimum or trying to pass other cars will be difficult and hard on tranny.

I also have that question. I have a 3.0 with 4.10s. I'm getting 32.5 tires would a lower gear be better for MPG? I don't speed hardly at all in my truck.
