Default jumping oil gauge needle

O.K. I,ve read the posts. Please forgive me if this is a double post. I've got 2 buckets of time just staring at a desktop screen in this and still got a jumpy oil gauge (sensor) needle.

I have a 98 Ranger 4.0, RWL's out and it has 250,000 miles.

I've replaced the oil pressure sensor unit and the oil pressure needle is still jumping, flicking, flexing, etc.

Anyone have this issue? What was the fix?

Yeah my 3.0 does this after driving on long highway trips. I've heard of many others having this problem as well. However, the gauge is a "dummy" gauge anyway so I haven't bothered to do anything about it.

Default Re: jumping oil gauge needle

If its just got the one push on wire, it could be loose enough to cause the problem.
