Default Green antifreeze from autozone...

2010 RANGER XL STICK SHIFT 4 CYL....

i AM GETTING READY TO DRAIN ANTIFREEZE AND WANT TO USE THE STANDARD GREEN STUFFF. WILL THIS WORK?

http://www.autozone.com/autozone/acc...questid=109732

It is the AutoZone/1 gal. green conventional antifreeze and coolant.

Is this OK to use. I have heard dex cool is for GMs ans it will rotten out stuff.

False

Dex cool is dex cool. Green is universal and even the green extended life can be used in anything including dex cool

you are correct! I meant to say if you had green b4 i would go back with green. If it was orange (dexcool) i would go back with that and read directions carefully. I prefer the green for the simple fact ive seen alot of gunk build up in chevys and they have dexcool from the factory

I would drain the radiator fill with water run 15m..repeat... If you dont have a coolant flush machine or gonna get it done at a shop. Draining the radiator alone wont get ALL the orange out

OHH and idk for a fact and have no evidence but orange and green coolant mix is "supposed" to be bad. Ive never seen a reaction to the 2 myself, and i work a maintenance shop

Yep dexcool and green should not mix. If I remember correctly it becomes almost like a pudding

My 2011 runs the Ford Premium Gold coolant, a.k.a. G-05. You can buy Zerex brand G-05 coolant at Walmart. I suspect your 2010 has this coolant also. I'd suggest replacing with the same.

Here's a good article about the latest coolants: http://www.gates.com/downloads/downl...older=brochure

The Ford Gold is supposed to be good for 5yrs/100,000miles.
The article above does say you can switch from G-05 to american conventional green (non-long-life), but I'd be leery of potential compatibility issues and I'm planning to stick to the original spec for myself.

I'd stick with the green stuff, I find the dex-cool gets grimy a lot quicker. And if you get one from autozone or advanced it really doesn't matter, they're all the same stuff pretty much.
