It can help depending on what youre stuck in. The mistake most make when using it is they leave it in drive while in 4 low. I use 4 low almost exclusively when Im at the dunes, I stick it in 4 low and second gear and just cruise, that is the key while climbing the hills, keeps your wheel speed up without bogging the engine plus you get the added benefit of lower trans temps because the engine/trans is not working as hard to turn the wheels.
