Default Why is the rear tire locking up on 87 ford ranger?

Brake pads were wearing unevenly so we replaced them .........checked the e-brake and it's fine but the tire is locking up in drive but not in reverse. Any suggestions?
The rear shoes were replaced......there is nothing wrong with the front or passenger side brakes just the rear drivers side.

those trucks have brake shoes right not pads. you might have to replace all of the assembly. buy a break kit. sounds like the springs in there aren't releasing. or try spaying the springs with wd 40 or similar lube

Default DO NOT USE WD40 on the brakes!

DO NOT USE WD40 on the brakes!
Use a brake cleaner only. if the friction surface picks up the liquid, the brakes will grab,
You can use a small amount of lithium grease at contact points if needed.
Are the shoes greasy from a bad seal? a sticky wheek cylinder can also cause this condition, or a E brake cable that will not release properly.

It sounds like your self adjuster might be bad, I would get a rebuild kit for your back brakes. It replaces all of your springs and self adjusters. The kit doesn't cost to much...
If you have any blue/black on the inside of your drums it could mean that you might have been rubbing. It gets really hot and and causes the discoloring. If you take it to a dealer it will probably cost around 300 for you to redo the rear brakes... but If you can DIY it will be way cheaper! Good Luck
