I currently drive a 1999 Ranger ext cab 4X4 with 156555 miles. Transmission is going, when I put key in initiation hard to turn some times, air cond needs work, and a small rust problem developing on lower panel. Retired so cost is an issue. Good rangers move fast here in CT. Found a 2002 Ranger ext cab 4w off road with 73,564 miles in RI at 146 Auto sales. Super clean truck with tow package which I need, pull small landscape trailer. Asking price is $10,985, they will not move on price, will give me $1500 for my Ranger, more when they see it if in better condition. Suggestions, is this a good deal, TX Jim

I say over priced. I got my level II for less than that with 83k

Id say that is overpriced. Same thing is going for about 7 - 8 around here. Now the demand for a compact pickup might be higher causing the price to be higher in your area.

I got better than that on my level II as well, but thats about what you would find on that with that mileage around here so no i dont think its that overpriced. I got mine from an individual so at a dealer thats about right plus they will take your trade....no hassle selling it later.

Im also in CT and will agree that sounds overpriced. I paid 13k for my 2006 lvl 2 with 55k miles that I found in New London. I would broaden your search into Mass and parts of New York too.

To me it's over priced, here in okla it would be worth about $6,200 if it's in perfect shape,I have a 02 with 102.253 miles in perfect shape and clean inside and out maybe bring $5,800 here look around there's got to be a better deal.

Just because your key is hard to turn sometimes, I don't think that means the transmission is going bad.

Also that is overpriced, its a 10 yr old truck, I got mine it was 6 yrs old and it was only $6500.
And really only $1500 for trade in for your ranger...rip off...u can sell it for at least $3500 depending on its overall condition.

And really for what they want for that ranger, hate to say it, but u could get a nicer full size..
At least around where I live u could..

I came very close to buying that exact same truck (Assuming that the only ranger still there is the green xlt 4x4). Did you test drive it? It had a freakishly fast left turn signal when I drove it and had the ABS light on. I was able to find the one I drive now for 2 grand less which is 1 year newer and has about 20,000 less miles on it. Some of the dealers here in MA have them for cheaper. Also if you don't need a 4x4, their is a dealer near me with 4 4x2's for about 4-5 grand.

The big question is it a FX4 or just off road?

And a lot of people don't know what to sell rangers for, especially Level II's.

I got my 02 lvl II in 2003 with less than 10k on it for 14,000. And it was a year old, but i bought it from a GM dealership who thought it was a dodge.. And of course, they had no idea what to price it at, since new ones went for like 25-28k. But if its a fully loaded FX4, and its really clean, i wouldn't pass it up.
