Window Regulator Issues.
Recently I replaced my window regulator in my 2001 Ford Ranger. I have it installed correctly and everything of that nature is fine. My problem is that the window, once rolled all the way down, or down until something interrupts it, will not roll up. It will roll up and down all day long, but if it is rolled all the way to the bottom of the door, there is kind of a pop and then the motor will not turn at all. It has nothing to do with how far the window rolls down, as I tried putting a strip of plywood inside the door, and even though the window didn't roll completely down, when it made contact with the plywood it still made the popping noise and the motor would not run. This is resolved by prying the gear and the swing arm with the teeth away from each other and pressing the button to roll up the window. The motor then just starts back up again. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. I have looked around the internet for weeks with no luck. Thank you.
p.s. There is a coil spring that goes on the regulator. I understand how it goes on, but when the window is completely rolled up, there is no tension and its just dangling in there. I tried starting it a half rotation over and pulling it around but that creates too much tension as the window barely moves at that point. If anybody could tell me how to make that thing stay, I would appreciate it also.
