Re: 94 ranger no cel or fuel

IT'S YOUR IGNITION SWITCH. check power at the fuel pump relay for 12v coming from the ignition switch to the relay, it's probably not enough to turn the relay coil on. I have seen this before, a customers cel would blink on and off and then off and the pump wouldn't come on. They would work once for ever twenty times the key was turned. Tell me if you the new switch works. On (most) vehicles the fuel pump relay is powered through the ignition switch. Unless you have a return less fuel system.

I agree this is most likely the ignition switch. The computers almost never break, and getting two broken ones is just not realistic. The symptom scream ignition switch.

I'll go check voltage now.
Not to argue but I thought the fuelpump relay was powered up by the eec relay.
IE: ignition switch to eec diode to 30amp eec fuse to eec relay to fuel pump relay? Either way I'll go check.

Re: 94 ranger no cel or fuel

Have 11.9 volts at the hot at all times terminal. KOEO terminal also have 11.9 so all is correct there. Thanks for the try though, gave me a little hope however brief.lol.
It's the eec, has to be they gave me the wrong one or defective.

Re: 94 ranger no cel or fuel

Umm, what part of 11.9 are you interpreting as "correct". That is dead as a doornail. Nothing is going to work right with 11.9 volts. It certainly isn't going to start the truck.

what are you talking about?

Re: 94 ranger no cel or fuel

When you fix it let us know what it was. Are you testing the relay coil hot wire coming from the ignition switch? One connector is hot at all time the other hot is only hot when the switch is on. Unplug the relay and test each connector until you find the two hots.

11.9 Volts is not normal voltage. That is very very low. Either your battery is dead... or the ignition switch is broken and creating a poor high, resistance connection.

its suppose to be 12 volts and its 11.9. thats not ''very very low''

Re: 94 ranger no cel or fuel

Is the cel bulb burnt out? After several years of wrenching I still haven't came across a bad computer. If your crankshaft sensor is chot or not plugged in all the way you will have no pump power because it's not giving the ecm rpm readings. So you get no fuel pump and also you get no spark. I would at least wiggle the wires at the ignition switch to see if its intermediate shorted, but after so many contacts they can wear out.

Wrong. Normal battery voltage with the engine off is 12.5+. Engine running normal voltage is 13.2 to 14.2. Your 11.9 volts is extremely low. A half a volt is the difference between good and dead with batteries. Have your battery and alternator tested, and just try jump starting it.

Or don't listen and keep blindly replacing parts.

Re: 94 ranger no cel or fuel

fireranger is correct 11.9 is about 35 % of what it should be which is 12.5 -12.6 as he said. I would also Jump it easy enough to find out for sure. If the battery is 11.9 and your seeing 11.9 at the relay its weak/dead period. But its your choice...

thank you very much.

Dumb question would the fuel cut off switch located in the foot well of the passenger side of the cab have an effect on this issue? could it be it has just been tripped? I had an issue with my 89 hit the button and it was fine/? did not know exactly what it cuts off

I take that back I have seen a bad computer after my step dad was testing alternator by pulling the growing off the battery on a Buick.
