Default Air doors, HVAC / heat

2001 ford Ranger Edge 3.0

HVAC and heater only blow out the top front window vent holes... can not get them to change to front or floor vents. Figure its somethign to do with the air doors.

Need location of air doors / motors to manualy open and / or troubleshoot this challange.

Photos or drawings of locations would be great.

(next time I mention buying another project truck, just shoot me.)

I have determined that most mechanical / electrical challanges are directly connected to the nut that connects the steering wheel to the drivers seat.

Heres an update. Trick I learned the hard way.

IF your AC is only blowing out the top, above the dash, window defrost vents and not the front or feet ones, check the check valve on the vacuum hose.

Apx 14 inches from the Ball on the passenger side of the engine block theres a very small check valve.

If its clogged OR installed backwards you will only get air from you top vents. Also check for bad hoses at the same time either can cause the same challanges.

Thanks for the update. I had the same problem on mine and found a cracked hose that came out of the front right brake. Interesting to discover a vacuum line coming from the brake that would stop air flow in the cabin.
